10 dollars
“In the past few months you’ve taken a total of 90 dollars. I always pay close attention to where I spend my money, so I know right away that some was missing.” Dylan’s mom told him. “I had hoped that you would stop after the first time, but you kept going.” Dylan stared down at his feet and turned as pale as a ghost.
“I was planning to give you 100 dollars as your birthday gift. Once I realized that you kept taking money without asking, I decided this was going to be your gift. You took 90 dollars in total, so there’s 10 left over.” She pointed toward the box. “The ten dollars are in there.”
Dylan was ashamed of himself.
