As neighbors started hearing about the mysterious vehicle, they trickled over to see it for themselves. Nobody could explain it. No one recognized the SUV, and no one had heard or seen anything unusual the night before.
Tom had already called the local sheriff, but while they waited, someone noticed something inside the car — a leather-bound journal sitting perfectly on the passenger seat.
The windows were tinted, but the journal was easy to spot. One of the younger neighbors, Caleb, tried to open the door, and surprisingly it was unlocked. They took the journal and opened it. The first page had a hand-drawn map on it… and what looked like a big red “X” marked near a bend in Miller’s Creek — a quiet, wooded area not far from town.
When the sheriff arrived, they inspected the car and confirmed there was no sign of a break-in or struggle. Everything about the SUV seemed normal — but something about its presence didn’t sit right.
That’s when the town realized this wasn’t just some parked car. Something strange was going on.
