Fake faces
The ability of AI to generate fake visuals is astonishing. Not many people know about this yet, but as you’ve seen they are able to fake human faces to a very realistic degree.
The site is the creation of Philip Wang, a software engineer at Uber, and uses research by chip designer Nvidia to create an endless stream of fake portraits. The algorithm behind it is trained on a huge set of real images, then uses a type of neural network known as a generative adversarial network (or GAN) to fabricate new examples. In other words: It has learned what faces look like and is now able to create fake ones within seconds.
