“What are they doing?” Emily, their teenage daughter, whispered. No one answered. Tom stepped further outside, camera in hand, recording what was quickly becoming one of the most bizarre mornings of their lives.
He zoomed in on the middle of the pool, where the otters seemed focused. For a moment, he thought he saw something move beneath the surface. It wasn’t quite a fish and definitely not an otter.
Then, as if responding to his curiosity, one otter dove down and resurfaced moments later… carrying something in its mouth. A limp, furred shape. It wasn’t a toy. It was something else entirely.
