- She has several species named after her
It’s official – Greta Thunberg’s fame has reached new heights, and we’re not just talking about her activism and international recognition. That’s right, several newly discovered species have been named after the teenage climate activist! And let’s just say, the names are… interesting.
First up, we have the Thunberga greta, a kind of huntsman spider. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m not exactly thrilled about the thought of coming across a giant spider named after me. But hey, at least it’s not a venomous one, right?
Next, we have the Opacuincola gretathunbergae, a New Zealand water snail. Okay, this one might not be as intimidating as the spider, but I’m still not sure I want to come face to face with a snail named after me. I mean, how many people can say they’ve had a snail named after them? It’s definitely a unique honor, but I’m not sure I’m ready for it.
So what do we make of these newly discovered species named after Greta? Cool or yucky? I’ll let you decide. All I know is that Greta is definitely leaving her mark on the world, and not just in the way she’s fighting for a better future.
