One still remembered the first time he saw Haru’s house. The kids had stayed late for another extra class at school, and one day he was unexpectedly unable to pick them up because a routine doctor’s appointment was running late. He called the school and begged them to take the kids to his house and wait for him to get back.
Hana naturally agreed. On the way home, already there, she wondered if the children’s grandiose stories were true. The twins had often told her stories about a pool as big as the ocean, and now she thought she might finally know what they were talking about.
So Hana drove them home, and when she got there, her jaw dropped in amazement. “Oh my God!” she exclaimed, and they giggled and echoed her words. Hana remembers hoping that the kids wouldn’t relay her outburst to Haru.
