8. Flying jeep
This crazy-looking aircraft is the Curtiss-Wright VZ-7. It’s a so-called “VTOL quad rotor aircraft”, but hey. That’s just gibberish, right? It’s a flying jeep that was designed specifically for the US military. It performed well during tests, but it wasn’t able to mee the standards of the Army, after which it was retired in 1960. There were only two built.
