As she rounded a small rocky outcrop, Sarah’s eyes widened in shock. Just a few feet away, a tiny calf moose was trapped between the rocks, struggling to free itself. The calf let out another desperate cry, its little hooves scraping at the uneven surface. It must have gotten caught in the tide and wedged between the boulders.
The mother moose let out a deep, sorrowful sound, nudging the rocks with her snout but unable to free her baby. Sarah knew she had to act quickly. She approached cautiously, mindful not to startle the mother. Using all her strength, she pried at the largest rock, shifting it just enough for the calf to wriggle free.
