As she rounded a small rocky outcrop, Lisa’s eyes widened in shock. Just a few feet away, a tiny bear cub was trapped between the rocks, struggling to free itself. The cub let out another desperate cry, its little paws scraping at the uneven surface. It must have gotten caught in the tide and wedged between the boulders.
The mother bear let out a deep, sorrowful sound, nudging the rocks with her snout but unable to free her baby. Lisa knew she had to act quickly. She approached cautiously, mindful not to startle the mother. Using all her strength, she pried at the largest rock, shifting it just enough for the cub to wriggle free.
