James looked into Maria’s eyes, searching for any sign that she might be feeling the same worry he had. He was hoping to see if she, too, felt unsure about being at the beach so close to her due date. It hit James then that Maria wasn’t wrapped up in the same fears that were bothering him. And maybe that was a good thing. They were about to become parents, and this could be one of their last chances to enjoy some quiet time together, just the two of them. He realized he might be overthinking things, letting his soon-to-be-dad worries get the best of him.
