Just after telling Brooks that she was on her way to the hospital, Haley called the Red Cross to ensure that he could receive emergency leave to be there for the birth of their daughter. “I called the Red Cross and let them know that it was in fact an emergency and that if they needed more information, they could call my doctor. I said: “I need to be at the hospital by 3pm today, they can confirm the situation,” Haley tells.
When the Red Cross was able to confirm the details with hospital, they quickly arranged for Brooks’ emergency leave. While he was happy to be able to return for the birth, he was worried about Haley and Millie’s well-being. What he didn’t know, however, was that the coming days would bring him his greatest sadness and also his greatest joy.
