During his breaks, George would often find himself lingering in the pastures, expecting Luna to come out from behind a hill, almost as if nothing had happened. Anytime he heard a dog bark, he would go running towards the voice, hoping it belonged to Luna. But the pastures remained empty.
George started to avoid going to the pastures or looking at Luna’s sleeping spot on the porch. Instead, he worked on the distant parts of the farm, trying to lose himself in his chores. Distracted as he was, he would often leave the barn door unlocked or misplace his tools.
