A tennis ball in your hand luggage? We’ll never travel without one again!
Going on holiday is amazing, but for most people the long plane journey that takes them to their destination is quite stressful. Of course, you don’t need to go by plane to go on holiday, but if you want to go to a faraway destination you don’t really have a choice. The long journey can be quite heavy on both the body and the soul (that blasted jetlag…).
If you’re going on a long haul flight your hand luggage will probably have reached maximum capacity already, but you might want to make some room for a tennis ball after you read this.
Tennis ball massage
A tennis ball in your hand luggage? Yes, indeed. It’s actually a super handy object to have around when you’re experiencing physical discomfort on your journey. Your body can get really stiff when you have to sit down for so long at a time, and that can get pretty uncomfortable. Back pain, painful feet or pain in your bum: a tennis ball is the solution. You can massage the painful parts of your body with the ball; this will be much more effective than just using your hands, since you can apply more pressure.
- Painful feet? Roll the ball beneath your foot from heel to toe while you’re pressing down on the tennis ball. Roll small circles and you’ll feel relief from the pain.
- Painful joints in your knees? The tennis ball will help you out. Sit down on a chair or on the ground and place the ball in the pit of your knee. Tighten your muscles for ten seconds, trying to flatten the tennis ball. After ten seconds, relax for 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise eight times.
- Sore butt: If you sit down for a long period of time, your bum can become pretty sore after a while. Sit down on top of your tennis ball and bend your knees. Place your hands on the ground behind your back for balance. Knead your butt cheeks by moving around on top of the ball.
