How does it work?
Using the aforementioned trick, you ensure that your water tank fills up faster. This means your toilet will use less water with each flush. Of course, your toilet still needs water to rinse everything out so it’s good to experiment with different bottles. You could, for example, start using a 1-liter bottle and if everything flushes properly you could always add a 500ml bottle. Make sure that the bottles don’t get in the way of the flushing mechanisms in the water tank.
Saving even more water
Wanting to do more to save water? Try investing in a water-saving showerhead. In comparison to a normal showerhead, this could save you around 40 euros in water costs per year. Try also taking shorter showers. Do you usually spend 10 minutes in the warm shower? Try to make it 8 minutes. This will also make a significant change each year.
