With these tricks you can easily get rid of moss

Remove moss

No matter how well you take care of your lawn, there will always be a bit of moss in your lawn. You can remove moss by aerating and/or by using a good moss repellent.

Aerate:

If you aerate, you are, in effect, introducing air into the soil. It also removes the felt layer. The roots of the moss are cut, which means that new moss will not grow quickly. Aerating is something you should do about twice a year. Do this after the summer period and after the frost period.

Moss repellent:

Before using a repellent, it is important to pay attention to which product you buy. For example, not every product is environmentally friendly. You can use a moss repellent in dry weather. If necessary, you should mow the grass a few days in advance. After using the moss killer, you should leave the grass alone for a few days. About two weeks after treatment you can remove the moss by aerating. Repeat this process if necessary.

Remove moss between tiles

Fortunately, if you have moss between your tiles, this is a lot easier to remove than moss in grass. Combine one part vinegar and one part water in a plant sprayer. Then spray this product on the spots where there is moss, algae or weeds. Note: vinegar can affect the color of your tiles, so first test on a small piece to ensure the vinegar does not damage your tiles. Do you prefer the big guns? Then you can also remove the moss with a high-pressure spray. Please note that you should not use this on porous stones.

Moss on your garden furniture

Unfortunately, moss can also grow on your garden furniture. There are several ways to remove the moss, depending on the material:

  • Plastic, steel or aluminum: put hot water in a bucket and add a dash of all-purpose cleaner. Grab a soft sponge or cloth and soak it in the water. Scrub the furniture. Always use a soft sponge or cloth to avoid scratching your furniture.
  • Wood: If you have garden furniture made of hardwood, you can easily spray these with a high-pressure sprayer. If your garden furniture is made of softwood, this is not an option. Instead, make soapy water with green soap and add a few tablespoons of baking soda, and use a soft brush to clean the furniture.
  • Bamboo and rattan: this furniture is easy to clean using cold water with a dash of salt in it.
