Hand sanitiser
Washing your hands multiple times a day is of course super hygienic, but it isn’t very sustainable when it comes to water. Try ‘washing’ your hands with hand sanitiser a little more often, when they’re not too dirty. Your hands will be clean and it didn’t take any water whatsoever.
Dishes
If you do your dishes by hand, you might use the method of letting the water run and washing the dishes underneath it. This is neither very handy, nor very water/environmentally friendly! Save your dishes until the end of the day and then fill a dish pan with water. You can still do your dishes every day, but don’t let the water run for every couple of plates you’ve made dirty.
Kiddie pool, hose and other things
We get it: it’s bloody hot. All we want to do is lie in a bath of cold water for hours at a time or getting sprayed with the garden hose. This is such a waste of water, though! It’s fine to fill a kiddie pool or other inflatable pool with water once in a while, but don’t do this every day. And don’t use the garden hose to cool yourself down. It’s much better to go swimming in some natural water like a lake.
