Flashlight and breathing
To quickly detect the mosquito in the room, all you need is a flashlight (and something to hit the mosquito with, of course). Your phone’s flashlight will also work well for this trick. Turn off all other light sources in the room. Hold the flashlight close to you. The mosquito is not attracted by the light, but by your breath and smell. So, breathing in and out deeply can lure the mosquito towards you more quickly, so that you get it sooner.
Shadow of the mosquito
If the mosquito flies through the beam of the flashlight, you will see its large shadow on the wall. This makes it easier to spot the tiny creature. Your breathing is likely to make the mosquito fly away from the flashlight. If you see it land, then it’s a simple matter of hitting it with one swipe, and you can then quickly go back to sleep, without all the buzzing and without being bitten. So, from now on, keeping a flashlight on your bedside table can save you a lot of trouble.
