This is why you should add aspirin to your vase of flowers

Crushed aspirin

Lifehacker explains that a simple aspirin can help you keep your flowers fresh for much longer. You do really need aspirin for this and not a different painkiller like paracetamol or ibuprofen. By adding a crushed aspirin tablet to the water in your vase, the water will remain nice and clean. This is caused by the salicylic acid the painkiller contains. This acid also makes sure that certain bacteria (the ones that are damaging to your flowers) won’t be able to grow in the water.

Remember to give this a try the next time you’ve got flowers in the house! As nothing is more disappointing than seeing your beautiful flowers die within days of buying them.
