Tips for use
Besides cleaning and maintaining it, it’s also important to be aware of the best way to use your A/C. These tips will help you make good use of your air conditioning unit:
- When you’re using your A/C you should always close the windows and doors. That way, no heat can come in.
- Protect the room you want to cool from direct exposure to the sun, by closing the curtains, for example.
- Don’t place any objects on top of the A/C since these will only retain heat.
- Postpone vacuuming your home until a cooler day. The amount of hot air that comes out of your vacuum cleaner will linger in your home otherwise.
- Turn on the A/C before the heat hits. This way, the machine has to work less hard, which saves energy.
- Set the thermostat of your air conditioner to a temperature that differs from the outside temperature with a maximum of 7 degrees Celsius. It will feel much cooler than the actual temperature because the A/C will dehumidify the air, which causes it to feel cooler.
- Don’t place the A/C in a very large room. Every A/C can cool a certain maximum amount of square metres. When you put it in a room that’s too big, it won’t be able to properly cool the entire room.
