Good news for those who never throw anything away
As we have mentioned in previous articles, old toys, such as videotapes, Furbies and Nintendos, can be worth a lot of money. However, you might have many more “old” things in your house that can make you a lot of money.
And it’s definitely a good reason to clean up the attic!
1. Old magazines
Many people find it difficult to throw away magazines. Not surprisingly, some even have the very first Tina somewhere. Perhaps it has been worth the space to keep the magazines all these years after all. Magazines that are decades old or are out of print can be considered true collectors’ items. Maybe that stack of old magazines can still provide you with nice pocket money.
2. Old-fashioned furniture
Old-fashioned or second-hand furniture – also referred to as “vintage” – can be worth quite a bit of money. Furniture that was popular in your parents’ time is highly sought after by collectors and interior decorators.
3. Old cameras
Do you still have an old camera lying around somewhere that you no longer use? The camera isn’t doing you any good if it only gathers dust on that shelf in the attic. Many professional as well as recreational photographers would love to have vintage models.
4. Books
Perhaps you once inherited some books from a great-aunt that ended up in a box somewhere. Spend some time going through the box because there may be something special in there. For example, the very first edition (1865) of Lewis Carroll’s book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is now worth about $2 million. Although many will not be in possession of this book, they may have other classics or children’s books that are now worth a pretty penny.
