Do you wear sunglasses often? This is the time of day you shouldn’t!

UVA and UVB protection

When buying a pair of sunglasses, it is important to look at the UVA protection and UVB protection they offer. Always look at the label to see if the sunglasses offer 99 or 100 percent protection from these rays. The price usually does not make a difference, but the size of the glasses do! “The bigger the better” states Taylor. She mentions that, for example, tiny round John Lennon glasses don’t offer much protection at all as the glasses cause dispersed rays that enter your eyes from several different angles.

No sunglasses

So if you want to perserve your eyes the best you can, wear a good pair of sunglasses when you go outside. There is a moment when it would be wise not to wear sunglasses though. Research shows that people who are exposed to bright sunlight in the morning have an easier time falling asleep in the evening. The reason is that the light in the morning has an impact on our biorhythm. Wearing sunglasses in the morning disrupts this rhythm and causes you to fall asleep more slowly in the evening. Foster therefore recommends that you don’t wear sunglasses up until nine or ten a.m. provided that you don’t look directly into the sun and the sun isn’t too bright.
