No matter when you go to sleep, you’re still tired
Do you feel tired a lot? Is there no amount of coffee that can help you stay awake? Well, it might not be because of stress or a bad night’s sleep. There are different things that could cause you to feel tired in the morning. Find out more below.
1. Hydrated
The first thing that will cause you to feel tired, is when you’re not drinking enough water. If you don’t drink plenty of water, your blood pressure will lower and your brain will receive less oxygen. When your brain doesn’t get as much oxygen, you will feel a little faint. So, try to drink some water right after you wake up.
2. Thyroid
Your thyroid is a gland that produces hormones. And those hormones are used to regulate feelings of hunger or fatigue. When your thyroid is not functioning correctly, you will feel tired more often. And that would be a good indicator to pay your doctor a visit and have it checked out.
3. Stress
One of the main reasons for mental and physical problems, is stress. And so, when you feel tired, it might be caused by stress. Do you feel stressed a lot and tired because of it? Then you might want to figure out a way to reduce stress. If you don’t know how to, you could ask your medical professional for advice.
4. Alcohol
Alcohol might cause you to fall asleep faster, but it doesn’t cause you to sleep better. The quality of your sleep goes down and that means you wake up tired. If you drink alcohol multiple times a week, you might want to reduce your intake to improve the quality of your sleep.
5. Sleep apnea
If you feel really tired when you wake up in the morning, you might be suffering from sleep apnea. This is a sleep-related breathing disorder that causes you to stop breathing for about ten seconds during sleep. And that means you will never fully reach the deep sleep stage, resulting in fatigue when you wake up. You might not notice it yourself, but your partner could help you figure out whether or not this is the case. If you suspect that you have sleep apnea, you should contact your doctor immediately.
6. Naps
If you sleep during the day, those naps might cause you to feel tired when you wake up. Especially if you sleep for over thirty minutes. When you nap that long, you might enter REM-sleep. When you wake up in REM-sleep, you wake up more tired than you would if you wake up after a short ten-minute cat nap.
