This is how it works
There are two steps to getting a perfect night’s rest and falling asleep relaxedly. The first step is to get into bed and relax the muscles in your face, including your tongue, jaw and the muscles around your eyes. Next, you should drop your shoulders as much as possible and relax the muscles in your arms and legs. Let your body relax for 10 seconds before moving on to the next step. For this step, you have to try to clear your mind of any worries and other thoughts. After you’ve achieved this you have to imagine yourself lying in a canoe on a calm lake with nothing but blue sky above you. Next, imagine yourself to be in a black hammock in a dark room. Repeat the words “don’t think” inside your head for 10 seconds. Now, you’re supposed to fall asleep like a baby.
Origin
This sleeping method dates back to 1981, where it was explained in a book called Relax and Win: Championship Performancex, written by Lloyd Winter. According to the writer, this method would increase athletes’ performances and lower the risk of injuries since people would learn to let go of any tension before a big match.
