Receding gums
Receding gums can be caused by not brushing your teeth in the right way. When gums recede, the neck of the tooth (beneath the crown but above the root) gets exposed. When this comes into contact with heat, cold, sweetness or acids, you experience a rather unpleasant (more like very painful) sensation. Gum recession can be recognised by the exposed necks of teeth and the gums having a red colour.
