Did you know this?
We all know that your poop can say a lot about your health. The way it looks, smells, its texture; all of those things could indicate some kind of health issue. But does the time of day that you usually go to the bathroom also mean anything? Experts will tell you more about this.
In the morning
Going number two in the morning is very common. According to gastroenterologist Ali Rezaie, it is pretty normal to go to the bathroom in the morning. That is because your small intestine will move food to your large intestine while you sleep. That causes your large intestine to get filled up with stool, resulting in the undeniable urge to poop when you wake up in the morning.
Three times a week
Because you usually go to the bathroom in the morning, you might assume that that is when you should go number two. But apparently, the time of day doesn’t really matter. As long as you go to the bathroom at least three times a week and not more than three times a day, your digestive system is fine. The time of day that you poop doesn’t really say anything. The consistency of your bowel movements is more important. When you don’t poop regularly, you can get constipated. Other things that will impact your bowels are: sleep, lifestyle, coffee and medication.
If you want to make sure you go to the bathroom regularly, you should eat plenty of fiber, drink plenty of water, exercise and go to the bathroom whenever you need to. Which means that even if you’re in public, you should go find a restroom to empty your bowels. Your body will be grateful for it.
