Don’t touch
While eating all that food can seem like a fun challenge or simply a good time, there are some things you should keep in mind if you don’t want to compromise your health. It’s not just that overeating can derail your diet; there’s also a ton of germs in a place where everyone touches everything. That means there are some things you should avoid touching or even eating at the all-you-can-eat buffet. Always wash your hands before you approach the buffet and don’t touch the sneeze guard as it is likely to be a breeding ground for bacteria – it’s called a sneeze guard for a reason!
Don’t eat
Then there are a couple of things you’re better off not eating at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Take sushi, for example. There’s always a risk when you eat raw fish, even if you go to a high-end sushi restaurant. But the risk gets a lot bigger when you eat it at a buffet like this. The sushi has been sitting out there for a while and might not have been prepared with the best quality seafood. You’re basically asking to get sick. The same goes for tuna! Now that we’ve covered that, let’s move on to how all-you-can-eat buffets trick us all! It has everything to do with the price…
Higher prices
These buffet restaurants are super sneaky and make you think you can eat a lot for little money. You think you’ve gotten a good deal, but in reality, you’re being fooled pretty badly by these buffets. Cornell University did a study in which two groups of people had to visit all-you-can-eat buffets, but they had to pay different prices. The research showed that people who had to pay a higher price also gave a higher rating to the food.
Satisfaction
People who had to pay less for the same food were less satisfied and gave the food a lower rating. By upping the prices, restaurants can make you believe their food is really good. Plus, restaurants discourage you from eating a lot by only serving small portions. Research shows that we’ll take less food if we’re offered less… Perhaps just go for à la carte next time?
McDonalds
You’re not only being tricked by all-you-can-eat buffets, McDonalds tries to fool us as well with a real sneaky trick ! Former McDonald’s employees have revealed the truth on how we are being scammed. Check out this article to find out how they make sure you’re not getting enough fries!
