The NBA champion donates the money in celebration of his 60th birthday
On Friday February 17, Michael Jordan turns sixty. And he is planning on celebrating his birthday by making a donation of ten million dollars to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a foundation that makes wishes of children with a critical illnesses come true.

Michael Jordan, six-time NBA champion, turns sixty on Friday and he wanted to celebrate this milestone by sharing some of his wealth with others. That is why he decided to donate 10 million dollars to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a foundation that he has been ambassador for since 2008. The foundation said that they made him ambassador because of the “life-changing impacts he has had on wish kids and their families.” According to ESPN, Jordan said: “I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true.”
Make-A-Wish
Jordan has been ambassador for the foundation since 2008 but he has supported the charity since 1989. In a news release, Jordan explained: “For the past 34 years, it’s been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring a smile and happiness to so many kids. Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration.” Not only has Jordan granted hundreds of wishes for children through the foundation, he is also still among the most requested celebrity wish granters for the foundation.
Jordan said that he donates the money to Make-A-Wish because he hopes it will inspire other people to help grant wishes to children who are still waiting to have their wishes fulfilled.
