This trick will help you save money
Having a dishwasher definitely beats washing your dishes by hand. But buying new dishwasher tablets can feel like a big investment. So tips on how to save money on these expensive necessities are never a waste. And this little ‘lifehack’ is so easy to do, we just had to share it with you.
Break the tablets
If you don’t have a lot of dishes to do, it feels like a waste of soap (and money) to throw in a whole tablet. So don’t! If you only have half a load of dishes, break the little tablet in half and only use one half of it. Most dish washers have a ‘half load’ setting that might also save you some water. Your water bill might look a lot better after that too! You can also break your dishwasher tablet if you’re only cleaning smaller dishes like small plates or cups. If you are cleaning something big and greasy, like a pan, it is recommended to add the whole tablet. But whenever you can, break the tablet in half and make a box of tablets last double as long!
Powder instead of dishwasher tablets
Another budget-friendly option would be to switch to the powder version instead of tablets. The powder is cheaper and with powder it’s easier to use the right amount based on the number of dishes you are going to do. That way you can save around fifteen cents every time you run the dishwasher. There are a lot of different brands selling dishwasher tablets. Try and figure out the cheapest ones! That can help you save a lot of money too.
Of course, washing your dishes by hand is also a low-cost option when you only have a few plates and cups to clean. So you might want to save those dishwashing gloves just in case you need to wash some dishes by hand.
