Clean your TV so you can watch all your favorite shows and movies in HD

Your TV, just like the rest of your house, gets dusty and dirty. And that means that, like the rest of your house, it needs cleaning too. But how do you clean such a delicate piece of equipment? You can’t just clean it the same way you would other items in your home. You might damage it! This is how you clean your TV without scratching it.

Cloth

The secret to cleaning your TV screen without damaging it, is a microfiber cloth. According to experts, it is the best way to clean your screens. Leanne Stapf, cleaning expert and COO at The Cleaning Authority, told Well + Good: “Microfibers avoid scratching the screen when cleaning and don’t leave any lint behind. Other cloths or towels, such as paper towels or rags, are too harsh, leaving behind scratches that can distort the quality of the screen.” The microfiber cloths will not only clean the dust and dirt off your screen, they will also get rid of fingerprints.

Method

And there isn’t really a tricky method to apply either. You just have to be really slow and patient. “It’s best to move the cloth gently and slowly in an up-and-down or left-to-right movement. Circular motions could leave whorl marks on the screen,” Stapf explains. If you’re dealing with some more stubborn stains, you could use some laptop screen cleaner on your TV. But only if you spray the cleaner on a cloth and then wipe the screen. “Do not spray the water directly on the screen,” Stapf warns. Don’t use regular Windex, or something similar, either. “Cleaning products such as Windex may contain harsh chemicals which can be damaging to the screen,” Stapf explains. “With the sensitivity of the latest screen technology, a dry method of cleaning would be best.”

And always remember to check the instructions that came with your TV. There is probably a mention of the best way to clean your screen. That way, you can make sure that you don’t damage your screen while cleaning it.
