Hydrogen peroxide often comes in useful
Hydrogen peroxide is the kind of product our grandmothers used to have around the home. That’s because it’s very useful to remove stains with, especially blood stains. It’s a very versatile product and also very cheap; you can buy a small bottle of the stuff for about a euro. These are all the things you can do with it!
Do you keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide around?
Hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is often sold in the 3% variety, which is suitable for all of our tips as well. It always comes in a brown bottle because the substance loses its potency when it comes into contact with light, heat and/or air. That’s why you should always screw the cap back on immediately after using it. You should never ingest peroxide because it can cause blisters in your mouth and it will also cause you to vomit.
1. Disinfecting
Hydrogen peroxide is perfectly suitable to use as a disinfectant for beauty tools. Take a few minutes time to disinfect nail clippers, glass nail files, tweezers and other tools you use on your face or body with a little bit of peroxide. You can easily apply some on a clean cloth and use this to rub the tools clean. You can also disinfect toothbrushes and retainers with hydrogen peroxide. Put the toothbrush or retainer in a small bowl and pour some peroxide into it. Let this soak for a little while and then rinse it properly before using it again.
2. Smelly feet
No one likes smelly feet. The smell is caused by bacteria, so if you kill the bacteria, you eliminate the smell. Make a foot bath with warm water and a cup of hydrogen peroxide. Let your feet soak in this and you’ll notice they will be less smelly afterwards. The foot bath also helps against foot fungus and it will soften calluses.
3. Nails
Are your nails a little yellow? In a small bowl, mix together one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide with two tablespoons of baking soda. It will form a paste and start to foam a little bit. Rub the paste onto and under your nails and let this sit and soak for three minutes before rinsing it off. The result? Beautiful white nails.
