Bill Gates has been known to give away huge amounts of money to fight poverty, sickness and injustice. In 2014 he pledged $50 million to help fight Ebola. As of 2021, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation had spent more than $1.9 billion to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Where does that leave his total net worth today? It is believed to be $127 billion. It consists of a 1.3% stake in Microsoft ($30.4 billion), his investment company’s portfolio ($60 billion) and $55.5 billion in cash.
Let’s put that into perspective. With that amount of money, Gates could make 127,000 people a millionaire and still be a billionaire himself. It’s an amount of money you can’t even begin to comprehend. As of February 2022, it makes Gates the fourth richest man in the world, after Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault.
